“Park attendance will increase worldwide by 213.8 million from 2019–2023.”
IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions)
So you are all geared up and ready to have a fun day with your family. And then it is always the same routine: you get a paper map! Very quickly it turns out that navigation is challenging, understanding your exact location, length of queues, different height limits, and where do you eat ???
A trip to a theme park can be an incredibly fun and memorable experience for a family or a group of friends. But let’s face it: waiting in lengthy lines, getting sunburned and spending $5 on a bottle of water can make it feels a bit less magical.
54% would love to plan their itinerary in advance so they can beat the queues
55% families with kids under 12 say it would be awesome to schedule a food or drinks order before arriving at the theme park
48% of millennials are happy to provide preferences in advance to receive relevant day-of offers
Research by ORACLE
As it turns out, navigation and organisation tasks during amusement park visits are not as simple and fun as we thought … Jumper comes to solve all these problems and improve the overall park experience in order to make it exceptional and enjoyable.
VIRTUAL QUEUING
Update queue times in real time so guests can make the most out of their day and continue to explore while they wait
NAVIGATION
Swap paper maps for interactive wayfinding that works on and offline
PLANNING
Helps guests get the most of their visit with a convenient day planner that shows opening hours, wait times, rider suitability and restrictions
I built a research-based graph that describes a user journey. I referred to the actions performed by the user before, during and after the park visit.
PLAN YOUR VISIT screen
SIGN UP screen
SPLASH screen
MY VISIT screen
- You can edit the details of the group \ person that are visiting the park
- A personal planner helps to make the most of the visit
- Indication of the walking time between attractions, for optimal time planning
To test the user experience of the application, I performed a qualitative usability test.
RIDES SCREEN
The user didn't notice the waiting time of the ride
RIDES SCREEN
The user didn't notice the rating of the ride
ONE RIDE SCREEN
The user did not always reach the bottom of the page and saw the photos of the attraction
The usability test helped me to understand that version 1 is too crowded which causes the user to miss important information.
Conclusions: The pictures are very important for the quick impression and therefore should be enlarged and so the CTA button is prominent and inviting (2nd version).

RIDES LIST ver.2
NAVIGATION
- The app shows the distance from a current location to the destination, and a walking time to the destination, all this to help planning the visit time
RIDES map view
- Change the list view to map view. In list mode it is easier to scan the attractions and in map mode it is easier to understand your current location and to navigate
One of the challenges is convincing a user to leave a review. The reviews help users make decisions, better understand the product and adjust expectations to reality.
Usually the user wants to leave a review but does not know how to formulate it
The visitors are impatient, their attention can be easily distracted because the noisy environment, commotion and children around
The review writing is carried out outdoors most probably, usually in strong sunlight
The user journey has helped me to understand that the right time for a visitor to leave a review is while waiting in line for the next ride.
Allow the visitor to select pre-written phrases from the bank of the existing reviews.
An amusement park is a noisy environment and subject to the effects of hot weather / dazzling sun / cold / wind so the elements should be large and prominent on the one hand and on the other hand the action itself doesn’t require a typing action.
An app for amusement parks. Jumper improves the overall park experience in order to make it exceptional and enjoyable.
